The Canonisation of Mary MacKillop

Today Mary MacKillop will be canonised in Rome, making her Australia’s first saint. Mary was a remarkable woman who displayed compassion and love to those most in need.  In recognition of Mary’s life, Black Dog published author Pamela Freeman will be interviewed on Hope radio tonight.  Pamela is the author of The Black Dress, which tells the incredible story of Mary MacKillop. To celebrate this historical event, Black Dog Books have released a new edition of The Black DressThe Black Dress was the recipient of  the Young People’s History Prize in 2006 at the NSW Premier’s History Award. It was also listed as a notable Book of the Year (Older Readers) at the 2006 CBCA Awards.
